Material control

Protect the lot before you trust the result.

Storage history, contamination, resuspension and open-container handling can change the material delivered to the measurement system.

Current family guidance

Use the label and product documentation first

Current Applied Physics aqueous PSL family pages commonly describe suggested refrigerated storage around 2–8°C and product-specific expiration information. The exact label, certificate and current documentation control for the purchased lot.

Do not freeze unless explicitly permitted. Freezing can disrupt an aqueous suspension and damage the intended particle population.
Receiving

Inspect before release

  • Confirm product, part number, lot and quantity.
  • Inspect the container for leakage, damage or unusual appearance.
  • Review shipping-temperature evidence when required.
  • Match the certificate and safety documentation.
  • Record receipt date and expiration.
  • Move the material into the approved storage condition promptly.
Handling

Protect the suspension from avoidable change

Contamination

Use clean tools and avoid returning withdrawn material to the stock bottle.

Temperature

Minimize unnecessary warming cycles and document excursions.

Mixing

Follow the approved resuspension method before sampling.

Light and environment

Use the product-specific storage and handling instructions.

Lot separation

Do not pool lots without a validated and documented reason.

Open-container history

Track openings, withdrawals and disposition.

Disposal and safety

Use the SDS and local requirements

Follow the current safety data sheet, institutional procedures and applicable disposal requirements. Do not assume that a water-based suspension has no chemical, biological or environmental controls.
