Current AP content describes a ready-to-use count-control suspension around 2,000 particles/mL at selected sizes.
Choose a ready-to-use count control when the main objective is a repeatable number concentration—not simply a certified particle diameter.
A count-precision standard is designed to help verify that a liquid particle counter produces repeatable count results under a defined sample procedure. It is not automatically a full size-calibration standard.

Current AP portfolio includes count-precision products intended to reduce serial dilution and support routine liquid-particle-counter checks.
| Input | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Particles per mL | Defines the expected population presented to the counter |
| Sample volume | Determines the expected total count and statistical precision |
| Replicates | Separates random variation from drift or preparation error |
| Background blank | Establishes contamination contribution |
| Acceptance limits | Define how the instrument is judged |
| Mixing and hold time | Maintain representative concentration during sampling |
A count-control product may include a reference size, but the primary procedure may be designed around concentration and repeatability. A size-calibration procedure may require a different uncertainty, distribution or concentration architecture.
